So what does all this mean?

The Index column shows the current hole index. The index is the hole difficulty rating for all holes

from 1 – 18, 1 being the most difficult to 18, the easiest. The men’s most difficult hole is number 16.

It’s effective index is also number 1 so it appears the index is correct for this hole. If you compare

the Index with Effective Index on all the other holes you will see some are quite different. The largest

Difference is on the Men’s holes 2 and 11. There is a difference of 10 index positions. The Variance is

The amount of strokes different to the par.

Remember, this is for all grades. If the calculation was done with just A grade or just C grade, the

results would likely be quite different however, all grades play the same course so it needs to be

averaged across all grades and players.

These figures are calculated on all stroke rounds between 01 January 2020 and 19 July 2020.
